Let’s be real: airplane seats can be pretty uncomfortable. There are some remedies, of course, since nearly every airline offers some kind of upgraded airline seating option, whether it’s premium economy, business class, first class or some creatively named variation on those concepts. But is it really worth upgrading? During a recent Cancun flight, I tried out a premium economy service aboard JetBlue, with an upgrade to the Even More Space category. And I was very pleasantly surprised by the experience.
You can watch a quick travel video about my experience aboard JetBlue, and find lots of details about what you get with Even More Space on JetBlue below.

JetBlue, to be honest, already has an advantage over most airlines when it comes to economy-class airline seating, since the company claims to offer “some of the widest seats available on domestic airlines and better than average legroom.” That means you’ll likely feel a bit more comfortable on a JetBlue flight, even in standard economy seating, than you might on most other airlines in the United States.
While most JetBlue flights do not offer a business class or first class seating option, the carrier does offer several fare options with different benefits: Blue Basic (the most economical fare, which doesn’t include a carry-on bag or advance seat selection and it’s the last group to board the plane), Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra (which automatically provides access to Extra More Space seating) and Mint (JetBlue’s top-of-the-line service, available on only some long-distance flights, with lie-flat seats and lots of inflight amenities).
For most JetBlue flights, the seating option with the most room is Even More Space, a seating category that provides up to seven inches more legroom (up to 38 inches total), plus early boarding privileges and other perks.
HOW TO BOOK EVEN MORE SPACE SEATS ON JETBLUE: At the time you reserve a JetBlue flight, you can opt for a Blue Extra fare or an Even More Space seat, or else simply purchase the upgrade as an add-on to the fare you choose. Even if you’ve booked the lowest-level Blue Basic fare, you can still upgrade to Even More Space (the cost for the upgrade varies by flight). However you book your JetBlue Even More Space experience, you’ll get the same benefits.
During my Cancun trip, I enjoyed several benefits from JetBlue’s Even More Space service.
THE DEPARTURE: I’m always a fan of early boarding, and when flying with Even More Space seating, I was one of the first on the plane, which means it was super easy to find room for my carry-on bag. I found the seat to be comfortable, with plenty of room to stretch out. (Some airports also provide Even More Space passengers with access to a faster security line, but I didn’t need that since I have TSA Precheck clearance.)

JETBLUE INFLIGHT SERVICE: Regardless of where you’re sitting, you can take advantage of JetBlue’s free snacks and — on many flights — free WiFi, which are definitely big selling points.
THE ARRIVAL: Since I was sitting in an Even More Space seat at the front of the plane, I was one of the first people off the plane, which is always nice — especially in a destination like Cancun, so I could get out and into the sunshine faster.
THE BOTTOM LINE: If you’re planning a trip on JetBlue and are in the mood for a more comfortable ride, it’s worth looking into the cost of upgrading to Even More Space. Depending on the cost and your budget, it may very well be worth it — and since the cost difference varies by flight, you may get a good deal. It’s not the same as flying first or business class, or course, but JetBlue’s Even More Space is one of the best premium economy classes that I’ve experienced on a U.S. airline.
