A lot of travelers are curious about how the Mexico hotel experience has changed as a result of the pandemic. As a travel writer and journalist, I’ve visited a number of hotels in Mexico in recent months, to give first-hand reports about what to expect if you decide to travel. One of my favorite recent visits was to the Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun, an adults-only, all-inclusive hotel that’s known for its modern style and extensive amenities.
You can read my full hotel review on TravelAge West (which is the leading travel industry publication in the western United States; I write about Mexico every month for them). But if you’re a fan of unfiltered and unscripted travel videos, you won’t want to miss my video hotel tour of the Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun.

PANDEMIC TRAVEL TIPS: How to Get a COVID-19 Test in the Dominican Republic

I am a professional journalist and travel writer, but I’m not a professional videographer. And that’s good news for you, because when you watch my travel videos, you know you’re seeing what hotels really look like. In this video, I show the beautiful one-bedroom suite where my husband and I shared (loved that view of the beach in Cancun), as well as a standard room and some of the public areas. I also talk about the hotel’s pandemic protocols, which are designed to keep hotel guests and staff alike. (Wear those masks, people!)
Overall, we really liked the hotel’s hip, energetic vibe. The food was diverse and delicious, the decor modern and attractive and the service decidedly excellent (anyone who’s stayed at an all-inclusive hotel in Mexico already knows that the service is among the world’s best).

MEXICO TRAVEL TIPS: Is it Safe to Visit Mexico During the Pandemic? (Video Chat)
••••••
Live Aqua is definitely an attractive option for singles and couples looking for a Mexico beach hotel with cool style, great cuisine and a fun atmosphere, and at a reasonable all-inclusive price that includes lots of amenities. This was actually my second stay at this Cancun beach resort, and I’d stay there again.
Now it’s time for my usual reality check: I travel for work in order to report on the realities of travel during the pandemic and what hoteliers and the tourism industry are doing to keep travelers and locals safe. But it’s important to note that the pandemic is not over. It’s going to be a while before most of us can get the COVID-19 vaccine. So both health and safety need to be top concerns today, no matter where you travel. The decision to travel is a personal one, and must be given much thought in circumstances like this. To put it bluntly: most people should be traveling right now.

DON’T MISS: How do Mexico Hotels Compare to U.S. Hotels During the Pandemic?

I’ve been consistently impressed with the efforts that hotels in Mexico have been making to keep guests and staff safe. You may have already read my post about how Mexico hotels are actually doing more than U.S. hotels when it comes to pandemic safety measures. It’s up to all of us to do our part too, to protect ourselves and others. That includes wearing a mask in public, washing your hands frequently and maintaining social distancing. It’s just a matter of time before travel will be normal again, and when it is, there will be lots of beautiful hotels like Live Aqua that are ready to welcome us.
I’d love to hear about your own personal travel decisions, as well as which hotels in Mexico are your favorites (when you do decide to travel, of course) — and also your questions about the Mexico travel experience and what destination or hotels you’re considering for your next trip.
