If you’ve been dreaming of living in Mexico or taking a Mexico vacation in the historic city of Puebla, you’re probably curious about how much it costs to live and stay in this historic and beautiful metropolis, which is the capital of the state of Puebla. You can get a lot of luxury for a reasonable price, which is good news for visitors and expats alike.
In my latest travel video, I show what you can get for about $800 a month or $70 a night in the heart of downtown Puebla — a modern, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a shared rooftop deck and lots of modern amenities in an elevator building.

MEXICO TRAVEL VIDEO: Cool Things To Do in Puebla, Mexico

During my most recent Mexico vacation, I was lucky enough to be traveling with one of my best friends, Mark Porter, who is a guru when it comes to budget travel, budget living and getting the most for your money. So while I was enjoying the amenities of this Airbnb rental in Puebla, he was researching local real estate and long-term rental prices, and was even able to find rental prices for apartments that were nearly identical to the one in which we were staying. So together we were able to come up with accurate estimates of what it costs to live luxuriously in Puebla, in a modern, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in the city center: just about $800.
And that’s on the luxury end of the scale. According to the website International Living, you can find a two-bedroom apartment outside the historic center for as low as $500. The site estimates that groceries and household items will set you back about $450 a month. Puebla is also a much more economical alternative than Mexico City, according to the website Numbeo, which reports that rental prices are more than 132% higher in Mexico City than in Puebla, and consumer prices more than 20% higher.

Short-Term Airbnb Rental in Puebla
If you’re looking for a short-term stay in Puebla, then this apartment may be a good choice for you. We really enjoyed the modern decor and design, which is set interestingly behind a historic facade on a quiet block downtown, just a few blocks from the cathedral and main square. With a full kitchen, two small balconies and two full bathrooms, the apartment is very well equipped. And the rooftop balcony, which is a shared space, is an especially nice plus — it offers great views of the city and even one of the volcanoes that lies in the distance.
If you’re looking for reasonably priced accommodations that’s still modern, stylish and centrally located in Puebla, this is definitely a good choice.
