It’s that time of year. As 2021 starts to look more and more like a faded memory, people are casting their eyes back at the past 12 months — and I’m no different, as I take a look at the top 5 Latin America travel trends of the year.
This is actually based on what you, the readers, viewers and followers have paid the most attention to. I looked at the top five travel videos of 2021 on my YouTube channel as well as the top five posts of 2021 right here on my travel blog. The results give a pretty good snapshot of what is attracting the attention of travelers today.
- Pandemic Travel Concerns Still Affect the Decisions We Make and Where We Go
The fact that several of my YouTube travel videos as well as my travel blog posts were among the most viewed of 2021 shows that people are still concerned about the pandemic — as well as all the pandemic-era travel requirements for International travel. Do you need to get a COVID-19 test before you travel? Where do you get a COVID-19 test in Mexico? These are some of the questions answered in my recent posts and videos. Check out my Cancun travel blog post as well as my travel video about pandemic-era travel requirements at the Cancun airport for more details (but don’t bother paying that airport departure tax!). - Travelers Still Love a Good Hotel View
Sure, we all may still be preoccupied with COVID-19 tests and masks, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t also looking for amazing hotels with memorable views. That’s why three of my posts about hotels in Latin America with great rooftop bars scored especially well on LatinFlyer.com — you can check out 10 Great Hotel Rooftop Bars in Mexico, 7 Great Hotel Rooftop Bars in the Caribbean and also 15 Great Hotel Rooftop Bars in Central and South America. Then pack your bags and bring your camera. - People Crave a Good Beach Resort
The fact that my reports on The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun Resort appeared in the Top 5 lists on both my YouTube channel and my travel blog shows that travelers still hanker for a rewarding, all-inclusive Mexico beach resort vacation. It also shows that when it comes to this type of getaway, Moon Palace Resorts do a great job at delivering on everything from cuisine to activities. You can see more in my travel blog post about things to do at The Grand at Moon Palace Resort and my travel video tour of 8 fun things to do at The Grand at Moon Palace Resort. - Travelers are Eager to Discover New Places
Destinations like Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, the Riviera Nayarit and Riviera Maya will always be popular with travelers seeking sun, sand and relaxation. But the popularity of my travel videos about lesser-known cities like León (the biggest city in Guanajuato), Puebla (the birthplace of Cinco de Mayo festivities) and Xalapa (the capital of Veracruz) prove that many travelers are looking to explore beyond the beach. Mexico is graced with countless cities and towns that offer unique experiences you won’t find anywhere else, and it appears people are eager to find new vacation options. This could also explain the popularity of my travel videos and travel blog posts about Mexico City, the nation’s capital and biggest metropolis, which is a fantastic place to enjoy culture, cuisine, shopping and nightlife. - Airline Passengers Want to Know What to Expect
The pandemic has made travel unpredictable on many fronts — and the airlines are no exception. The high-ranking score of my travel video about what to expect when flying first class Delta Air Lines proves that travelers are curious about the entire air travel experience, both in the airport and inside the aircraft.
To understand better how I determined these top trends, let’s take a look at the top travel blog posts and top travel videos of the year, from LatinFlyer.com and LatinFlyer’s YouTube channel. I post lots of content throughout the year, so it’s interesting (and sometimes surprising) to see what attracts the most attention.
