Lonely Planet Names the Best in Latin America Travel for 2017

The end of the year is fast approaching, and that means it’s time to start seeing a lot of lists — places to visit, things to do, vacations to put on your bucket list. Lonely Planet recently unveiled its Best in Travel 2017, a roundup of the world’s hottest trends, destinations and experiences for the year ahead.

It’s no surprise that Latin America scored well in this annual ranking — with Colombia, Peru, Chile and Mexico the award winners. So if you’re considering something new for that next Latin America vacation, consider these options:

Colombia — which Lonely Planet calls “South America’s ultimate comeback kid” — followed Canada as the number two country in the world to visit next year. It was the only Latin American nation in the Top 10 Countries listing for the year.
