Bossa Nova Around the World — New Music from Putumayo

Bossa Nova Around the World is the newest Latin-infused music album from Putumayo.

Global music purveyor Putumayo is about to release its latest album in the popular “Around the World” music series. Bossa Nova Around the World highlights some delightful examples of this infectious musical style, which originates from a small collective of musical visionaries from 1950s-era Brazil.
“As I’ve traveled the world, it’s been fascinating to see how certain musical genres like Brazilian bossa nova have been embraced globally,” said the album’s curator and Putumayo founder Dan Storper, “and, like reggae, seem to blend effortlessly with other rhythms, melodies and languages.”
The album features the work of 12 artists from South America, North America, Asia, Africa and Europe, who have creatively adapted this mellifluous musical style into their repertories. I’ve given it a listen, and it’s a worthy addition to any international music collection.
