There’s a new luxury hotel brand in Mexico, and I just made a new travel video to show off its flagship property. You can also check out my full hotel review in TravelAge West, the leading travel trade publication in the western USA, where I write every month about Mexico travel and tourism.
Here’s the deal: during my most recent visit to the Cancun area, I checked into the Grand Residences Riviera Cancun, an upscale beach resort hotel in the “Riviera Cancun,” an area just south of the city of Cancun, and an easy ride from Cancun International Airport. It’s also conveniently close to Puerto Morelos, a lovely Mexico beach town that’s more tranquil and far less crowded than many others.
The Grand Residences Riviera Cancun is designed to please a variety of traveler types. You have the option of choosing either a European plan (you pay for the food you want) or the all-inclusive hotel plan. I stayed with the all-inclusive plan, and enjoyed every culinary delight that appeared on a plate before me.

Right after I visited, this attractive Mexico beach hotel became the flagship member of Registry Collection Hotels, a luxury hotel brand that’s part of the Wyndham company. The new affiliation is especially good news if you’re a member of Wyndham Rewards, the hotel loyalty program. You can rack up points with your stay or splurge on a luxurious Mexico vacation with your hard-earned points.
The Grand Residences Riviera Cancun features spacious suites with balconies.
I loved a lot of things about the Grand Residences Riviera Cancun — the huge oceanfront suites with amazing views and Jacuzzis, the tasty and sophisticated cuisine and the manageable size (unlike a lot of hotels in this region, you’re never more than a few steps away from dining and activities at this property). I also loved the proximity to Puerto Morelos, a charming little Mexico beach town with a laid-back vibe.
