If you’ve ever wondered where Hollywood movie stars and TV stars go to vacation when they’re not in the mood to be hassled by adoring fans and invasive paparazzi, well, I’ve found one of their favorite Mexico vacation hideaways: Las Alamandas.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World located in Costalegre, a Pacific coast beach area just south of Puerto Vallarta, Las Alamandas is a small hotel on a gigantic property (you can see it in my latest hotel tour video on YouTube). The 18 lovely suites are set on some 2,000 acres of largely unspoiled land, providing lots of private space for guests — and each villa and room has its own private entrance; no hallways or crowds here. Every one of the accommodations has its own outdoor space, too, whether it’s a terrace or a balcony, and some rooms have their own swimming pool and/or hot tub, so it’s easy for tired celebrities to relax and rejuvenate without any pesky fans or photographers invading their personal space.
Celebrities favor Las Alamandas because of its lush setting, superior service and delicious privacy.

I had a very relaxing visit to this Mexico luxury hotel, too (not that any photographers care where I am, anyway). You can read my full hotel review in TravelAge West. And I’ve also made a travel video for my YouTube channel, in which I give a complete tour of this beautiful and colorful property.
In this video, you’ll see where celebrity guests including Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Ellen Degeneres, Maxwell and Cindy Crawford, have enjoyed vacations over the years. Whether you’re a big-name star or not, this Mexico beach hotel is a great choice if you’re looking to really disconnect and enjoy nature, great cuisine and memorable experiences, while staying in a beautifully appointed villa with ocean views. (You’ll even be disconnected from the distractions of WiFi, at least sometimes, since the guest rooms don’t have it.)

The property is equipped with lots of amenities — including an outdoor pool, spa, tennis courts, sea kayaks and even mountain bikes for exploring the ruggedly beautiful terrain. There’s even a small private landing strip if you want to arrive in style; people like me, however, arrive via a two-hour ground transfer from the Puerto Vallarta airport.
If you really want to go all out (and make sure none of your fans find you), you can even do a full buyout of the hotel. You and up to 41 of your closest friends and family can stay at Las Alamandas at one time. Now that would be a memorable luxury vacation!
